Life Expectancy
                   
The life expectancy information in the table below is based on the mortality table from
IRS Revenue Ruling 2002-62 Appendix B, see link:

Most of the references to "life expectancy" that you see in newspapers or magazines refer to
the average value. The "90th percentile" value means that there is a 10% chance you'll live
longer. The "99th percentile" value means that there is only a 1% chance you'll live longer.
The chart below lists "Years Beyond Current Age", so the average 20-year-old would live
62.6 years beyond his current age of 20 to be 82.6 years old. Only 1% of the 20-year-olds
would be expected to live to be 104.9 years of age.
This is a unisex mortality table that averages the life expectancies of males and females.
The average 50-year-old female lives about 4 or 5 years longer than a male. Using that
as a guide, a 50-year-old man could subtract 2 years from the value in the table below
while a woman would add 2 years to the value in the table to estimate each's life span.
